How do I upload my website via File Manager?

You can access your server via FTP/SFTP or - as described below - with the File Manager to upload and download data from your website.

1.    Upload website in File Manager
2.    Edit files in File Manager
2.1  Edit a file in File Manager
3.    Search in File Manager

1.  Upload website in File Manager:

  1. Log in to your Plesk Control Panel Login.

  2. Go to «Files».

  3. Click the button «» and follow these steps:

    • To upload a single file, click «Upload File» and select the desired file.

    • To upload a single file, multiple files, or a directory with its contained files, click «Upload Directory» and drag the files or directories into the highlighted area.

    • If you want to upload a file not from your computer but from another website or FTP server, click «Import File via URL», specify the file's URL, and then click «Import». The URL can be, for example: https://beispiel.de/bild.png or ftps://benutzer:[email protected]/beispiel.tar.

Note: The File Manager supports the following protocols for file imports: HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, and FTPS. Depending on the protocol, specifying the username and password in the URL path may be optional or required.

    .

→ You have uploaded the file(s). If it is a compressed archive file, you need to perform two more steps:

  4. Click on the line corresponding to the compressed file and then click on «Extract Files». If there are files in the folder that match the name of the compressed file, select the checkbox «Replace Existing Files». The files in the folder will be replaced by the extracted files.

  5. Click «OK».

Please note: The File Manager can extract files from the following compressed file formats: ZIP, RAR, TAR, TGZ, and TAR.GZ.

2.  Edit files in File Manager

You can use the following tools to edit text files in the File Manager:

  • HTML Editor: A WYSIWYG editor that automatically adds necessary HTML tags. This editor is suitable if you have no experience with HTML.
  • Code Editor: HTML files are opened as text files and the HTML syntax is highlighted. This editor is suitable if you want to manually add HTML tags.
  • Text Editor: HTML files are opened in plain text format.

You can edit HTML files in the File Manager using the editor. Rich Editor is a WYSIWYG editor similar to the Code Editor, but it includes additional features such as built-in spell checking.

2.1  Edit a file in File Manager

  1. Click on the line of the file to open the file's context menu.

  2. Click on «Edit in ... Editor».
→ The button will depend on which editor you want to use.

3.  Search in File Manager

In the File Manager, you can search for files by text in the filename, content, or both.

To select the search type, click on the icon «».
