You have the option to connect to the server of your web hosting either via FTP or SFTP.
Access via FTP
Every web hosting has an FTP access. In the Plesk Control Panel, it is also possible to create individual FTP accounts.
Use an FTP program such as FileZilla (Windows, Mac, Linux) or Cyberduck (Mac) for the connection.
| FTP Server/Host | Enter your domain in this field or, if it is still inactive, the IP address you find in the Plesk Control Panel under «Websites & Domains» > «Dashboard» > «Connection info». Example: Domain: ftp.your-domain.ch IP Address: 204.14.36.60 |
| Protocol | FTP |
| Encryption | We recommend always using the option «Explicit FTP over TLS» (FTP-SSL) if your client allows it. |
| Username | Enter the FTP username. |
| Password | Enter the password of the FTP user. |
| Port | 21 |
Access via SFTP (encrypted)
SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) provides encrypted data transfer via SSH (Secure Shell) and is therefore more secure than normal FTP.
The SFTP connection is supported by all web hosting products. To establish an SFTP connection, port 22 must be used.
Please Note: For security reasons, our servers block the IP address for one hour after too many login attempts. If you suspect that your IP address has been blocked, please contact our Support.
