Configuring external mail servers

Do you want to use an external or your own mail service with your own domain?

To do this, proceed as follows:

  1. Log in to the Control Panel with your Emubox ID.

  2. Navigate to the menu item «Services» > «Domains» and select the domain you want to edit.

  3. Click on «DNS Management» to access the DNS management.

→ You will now see the DNS entries of your domain.

  4. In DNS Management, select the template «External Mailserver» and confirm with the «Submit» button.
→ By default, this template deletes all MX, TXT, and SRV entries of your existing DNS configuration.

  5. Confirm the warning regarding the DNS entries to be deleted with «OK».

  6. After a few seconds, you will find the new MX entries in your domain management:

  7. Finally, complete the new MX entries with the host addresses of the external mail servers:

  8. Then click on «Save Changes».
Note:  Since Emubox Mailservers do not function as backup servers, we recommend disabling our MX records when using external mail servers.

If you want to configure additional external mail servers, you can manually edit the zone.
